Live: Lok Sabha Elections 2019 results: "I bow to the crores of Indians who blessed us," says PM Narendra Modi

This is the D-day for the 2019 elections for the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s Parliament. Exit polls have given the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) a clear majority but hectic parleys are underway as opposition parties try to stitch together an alliance that outnumber the NDA. Counting begins at 8 am and postal ballots will be the first lot to be cleared. The Election Commission (EC) has employed more than 400,000 government staff to count the votes that received by post. The increased emphasis on verification of votes recorded on the electronic voting machines, it is expected that it will be past noon before any clarity on the winning and losing sides in specific constituencies start to emerge.
