Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) is a central government sponsored health insurance program launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 23, 2018 to provide a proper health cover to the poor and vulnerable segment of the population. Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) provides health insurance coverage to an upper limit of Rs 5 lakh per family per year. In addition, the scheme also has provisions to cover the secondary and tertiary hospitalization expenses.

Right from the first day of its implementation in the states and union territories of the country, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana covers all the pre-existing conditions. An eligible Indian citizen can apply for the PM-JAY health insurance coverage online. Here are the easy steps to register for Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

Step by step guide to apply for AB PM-JAY program

• Visit the official site of AB PM-JAY and click on ‘Am I Eligible’
  
• You will have to log on to the site to continue further.
  
• Enter your mobile number and the captcha code you will find below the phone number field. Then click on ‘Generate OTP’.
  
• You will receive an OTP on your mobile phone which you can use to verify and log on to the site.
  
• In the next step, you will be asked to select your state and search by inputting the HHD number or ration card number or mobile number.
  
• In the search results, you can get to know if your family is covered under the scheme.
  

(Please note that once you have registered for this program, you will not need to enroll anywhere else to claim the benefits given under the PMJAY Ayushman Bharat Yojana.)

The alternative way to find out if your family is covered under this program is to approach any Empanelled Health Care Provider (EHCP). You may also dial the Ayushman Bharat Yojana call center number: 14555 or 1800-111-565.

Once you are eligible for receiving the benefits under the AB PM-JAY scheme, you can try to get an e-card. Visit a PMJAK kiosk which will verify your identity with the help of Aadhaar card or ration card. You will also need to provide family identification proofs such as any government certified list of members, PM letter and an RSBY card. After the verification is completed, you will get the printed e-card along with the unique AB PM-JAY Id. you can use this ID as the proof for the coverage to be produced at any point when you might face the need for medical care for you or your family members.
