112 fresh COVID-19 cases in Tripura; count rises to 1,693

Agartala, Jul 7 () As many as 112 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tripura, taking the northeastern state's tally to 1,693 on Tuesday, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has said.

Gomati district registered the highest number of fresh cases at 41 followed by Khowai (40), West district (14), Sepahijala (9), Dhalai and South district (three each) and Unakoti and North districts (one each), he said.

"Alert ~112 people found COVID-19 positive today in Tripura out of 1,260 samples tested," Deb tweeted late on Monday.

Of the 1,693 cases, 474 are active, while 1,218 people have recovered and one patient has died, officials said, adding that 73,059 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 273 people have been placed under institutional quarantine, while 4,746 people are in home isolation, they said. JOY ACD DV DV
