Shimla, Jul 12 () Thirty-one more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 1,214, officials said.

Additional Chief Secretary (Health) R D Dhiman said 10 fresh cases were reported from Solan, six from Kangra, four each from Shimla and Sirmaur, three from Una, two from Chamba and one each from Bilaspur and Mandi.

The six cases in Kangra included two women and two children, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said.

A 59-year-old man and his 26-year-old daughter in Chatri village and a six-year-old boy in Ghar Harsar village have tested positive. A 13-year-old girl in Dhan village, a 55-year-old woman in Dagoh village, and a 53-year-old man in Bagh village have also tested positive, he said.

In Mandi, a 22-year-old woman in Kummi village tested positive, a district official said, adding that she was asymptomatic and home quarantined.

The virus has claimed 10 lives in the state. While 916 people have recovered, 13 migrated out of the state, officials said.

Twenty-one more patients -- 14 in Kangra, four in Sirmaur, one each in Solan, Mandi and Chamba -- recovered from the infection on Saturday, Dhiman said.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 273, he said.

Solan has the highest number of active cases in the state at 84, followed by 42 in Kangra, 35 in Hamirpur, 29 in Una, 28 in Kinnaur, 15 in Shimla, 14 in Bilaspur, 9 in Chamba, 7 in Mandi, 6 in Sirmaur, 3 in Kullu and 1 in Lahaul-Spiti, Dhiman said. DJI ABH ABH
