Ahmedabad COVID-19 cases rise by 279 to 12,773; death toll 888

Ahmedabad, Jun 2 () The number of COVID-19 cases in Ahmedabad rose by 279 to 12,773 on Tuesday while fatalities mounted by 24 to 888, state Health department said.

A total of 1,019 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery from the viral infection, it said.

As per the latest bulletin issued by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), the city recorded 12,258 cases so far by Tuesday afternoon of which 3,528 cases are active cases.

The city has reported death of 854 patients so far, including 434 in the civil hospital, the civic body said.

The AMC has decided to take over about 2,000 beds from 45 private hospitals by declaring them as the designated COVID hospitals.

Meanwhile, normal traffic was seen in the city on the second day of relaxations in the lockdown.

While shops and business establishment remained open till 7 pm, transport services were operated with 50 per cent capacity. KA PD NSK NSK
