With 3,561 new cases and 89 deaths, the coronavirus tally in India crossed the 52,000-mark on Thursday (May 7), according to the Union Health Ministry data.
Of the total 52,952 cases, 35,902 are active while 15,266 people have recovered, and 1,783 are dead.

There are a total of 4,829 cases reported in Tamil Nadu. Madhya Pradesh has reported 3,138 while Rajasthan has 3,317 cases so far. A total of 2,998 cases have been reported in Uttar Pradesh.
States and UTs which have reported less than 10 cases so far are Arunachal Pradesh, Dadar Nagar Haveli, Manipur, Mizoram, Goa and Puducherry.

Madhya Pradesh records 89 fresh corona cases
Neemuch, a town from Green Zone in west Madhya Pradesh reported four coronavirus cases to add to the health authorities' woes on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the state recorded 89 fresh corona cases in 24 hours taking the total tally to 3,138.
In the last 24 hours, nine people have died of coronavirus taking the death toll to 185, a health official said. Four deaths were reported in Bhopal, two in Indore and one each in Khandwa, Mandsaur and Burhanpur.
Of total deaths in the state, Indore, the worst-affected district, accounts for 81. It also has 1,681 confirmed cases with 26 new COVID-19 positive persons found since May 6 evening.
Bhopal now has 605 cases, Ujjain 184, Jabalpur 109, Khargone 79, Dhar 76, Raisen 63 and Khandwa 50.

Record 428 new cases in Delhi; total stands at 5,532
Delhi recorded 428 new coronavirus cases in a day, as the total number of cases in the national capital climbed to 5,532 on Wednesday (May 6), the Health Department said.
With one COVID death in the last 24 hours, the death toll in the national capital reached 65, it said. Among the 65 dead, 56 had other serious diseases.
As many as 74 patients recovered on Wednesday, according to the Delhi health bulletin.
"A total of 1,542 patients have recovered so far in Delhi while 3,925 cases are active," the Health Department said.

So far, 71,934 tests have been conducted in Delhi.
18 BSF men test positive in Tripura, says CM
As many as 22 more persons including 18 Border Security Force (BSF) troopers, a woman and three children tested coronavirus positive on Wednesday in Tripura, taking the active cases among troopers and their family members in the state to 62, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said.
Deb, who also holds the health and home portfolios, said in a late-night tweet on May 6 urged the people not to panic and said the government is working vigilantly.
The officials said that 331 people, comprising 90 doctors and health workers and 241 BSF jawans, were identified for directly or indirectly coming in contact with the infected BSF troopers.
The swab samples of the identified people are being tested in a phased manner, said the officials.

Tamil Nadu records 771 new infections; death toll rises to 35
As many as 771 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Tamil Nadu over the past 24 hours, and two Covid-19 patients lost their lives taking the total death toll to 35, the Health Department said on Wednesday (May 6).
The state now has 4,829 coronavirus cases.
The Department said 31 Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, with this 1,516 persons are now cured in the state. A total of 13,413 samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
28 more deaths, 380 new cases in Gujarat
With 380 new coronavirus cases and 28 more deaths on Wednesday (May 6), Gujarat's total positive cases climbed up to 6,625 and death toll to 396. As many as 119 patients were cured and discharged from hospitals across the state on Wednesday.

Over 300 new corona cases have been registered daily for the last eight days in Gujarat, with Ahmedabad contributing to over 75% of these cases.
On Wednesday (May 6), state capital Ahmedabad reported 291 of the 380 new cases, followed by Surat 31, Vadodara 16, Banaskantha 15, Botad 7, Bhavnagar 6, Gandhinagar 4, Panchmahals, Dahod and Mahisagar 2 each and Anand, Kheda and Sabarkantha one each.
Along with the rising number of positive cases, casualties in Gujarat are also climbing rapidly. As many as 187 lives have been lost to coronavirus in the last eight days.
