Coronavirus cases in India rise to 10,363- leaving 10% cured and 339 dead

The total number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in India is 10,363, stated the data published by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.

Of these, 8,988 are active cases of COVID-19, 1035 individuals have recovered and discharged from the hospital, one person migrated to another country, and 339 people succumbed to the disease.

Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with a total number of positive cases rising to 2,334, followed by New Delhi with 1,510 cases and Tamil Nadu, which has reported 1,173 cases, according to the Health Ministry data.

At least 379 people are affected in Kerala, Uttar Pradesh reported 558 cases, Rajasthan reported 873 cases, Telangana reported 562 cases, and Andhra Pradesh reported 432 cases.

Madhya Pradesh coronavirus death toll touches 50

With 43 persons testing positive on Monday, the number of coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh climbed to 615 as the death toll touched 50, health officials said.

The death toll touched 50 with six more deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Indore confirmed three deaths while Bhopal and Khargone one each. The virus was confirmed in all the six patients after their death.

The state's principal secretary health and family welfare, Mohammad Suleiman said more than 10,000 samples had been tested so far in the state. 80% of persons affected by the virus come from Indore and Bhopal.

"So far we have reached the capacity of up to 1,050 tests per day and plan to raise it to 7,000 per day. We propose to rope in private medical colleges and other facilities in the state. Besides we have also sent 1,400 samples for testing to Delhi with a state plane to clear the backlog," Suleiman said.

Noida reports 16 new cases in a day

Despite strict containment measures, Noida witnessed a surge in the number of coronavirus cases with 16 new cases.

A total of 244 people were tested in Noida, of which reports of 228 was negative while 16 patients were tested positive of coronavirus. Till now 80 coronavirus cases were there in Noida of which 13 have been cured while nine more will be sent back to their home shortly and 58 are undergoing treatment.

Infected patients in Noida have been sent for quarantine and under observation.

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment issues Advisory for protection of senior citizens

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has issued an advisory to the states for the protection of 16 crore senior citizens from coronavirus.

In a letter to the Chief Secretaries of states, R. Subrahmanyam, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has said that the senior citizens aged above 60 especially those with medical conditions are particularly susceptible to infections during these times.

The Ministry, along with the Health Ministry and AIIMS has prepared an advisory to be followed by senior citizens and their caregivers during these times.

Delhi record jump in cases, 356 new patients reported 24 hours

With 356 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, the total coronavirus cases in the national capital crossed the 1,500 mark to reach 1,510 on Monday.

The national capital has reported four new deaths in the last 24 hours, and the total toll due to COVID-19 is 28 since the outbreak of the infection.

According to the Delhi Health Department, among the total 1,510 cases, 1,071 cases are from the Nizamuddin Markaz, with 325 new cases in the last 24 hours. From Saturday onwards, the bulletin has dropped the 'Markaz' cases and has replaced it with 'Positive cases under Special Operations'.

"Among the 356 new cases, 10 had travel history or contact history," the health bulletin said.

It says 377 positive cases have foreign travel history and contacts.

Coronavirus deaths toll rise to 161 in Maharashtra, 352 new cases

Mumbai became the first city in the country to record a three-digit fatality figure with COVID-19 deaths touching 100. At the same time, Maharashtra notched the highest number of fresh cases in a single day - 352, taking the total number of infections to 2,334, officials said.

Among the nine deaths in Mumbai were six women, including an 87-year-old and three men, including an 82-year-old, and seven of the victims had other serious health problems like diabetes, heart, hypertension, etc.

Apart from Mumbai's nine casualties, one death each was reported from Thane's Mira-Bhayander town and one in Pune.

The number of new cases shot up to 242 in Mumbai including 43 in Dharavi, while 39 cases were reported from Pune, 14 from Malegaon (Nashik), 13 from Thane including 3 policemen, 11 from Nagpur, five from Palghar, four each from Buldhana and Aurangabad, two from Raigad, besides one each from other districts like Ahmednagar, Dhule, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, and Yavatmal.
