COVID-19: CU starts free online counselling service for students
Kolkata, Apr 9 () Calcutta University has startedfree online counselling service as a number of students areunder stress due to the lockdown in force to control theCOVID-19 pandemic, a senior varsity official said on Thursday.

The online counselling service will be available for12 hours every day, the official said.

The 'Psychological counselling service' was being runby 13 teachers of Psychology and Applied Psychology departmentand will be available for students of post-graduate andunder-graduate courses of Calcutta University only, theofficial told .

"Many students are reeling under different types ofstress in the present situation, for 247 confinement withintheir homes, which may lead to a swing in moods and tiff withfamily members.

"There can also be concern related to career with allacademic schedules delayed. Teachers of the two departmentswill be listening to the problems of each caller with patienceand seek to address their concern," the official said

The counselling service which was launched onWednesday, have already received a couple of calls, theofficial added.

The university has put up a notice on its websitewhere the names and mobile numbers of the teachers have beengiven mentioning the different time slots when they will beavailable for giving tips to the youngsters and help them copewith the crisis situation. SUSRG RG
