Initial investigations suggest the involvement of two teenage boys, both around 16 years old. The pair had visited the hospital earlier that night at around 1 a.m., with one of the boys returning for treatment on a previously bandaged toe. After receiving care, the boys entered Akhtar’s cabin.
Shortly afterward, night staff members Gajala Parveen and Mohammad Kamil heard the sound of a gunshot. Parveen rushed into the cabin, only to find Akhtar motionless in a pool of blood.

Abid, an employee at the nursing home, shared that Akhtar had worked there for two years, starting his shift that evening at 8 p.m.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) S.K. Jain confirmed that the attack was carried out by two identified suspects, who had initially met with a compounder for treatment before entering Akhtar’s cabin and shooting him. "Six teams have been formed, and we’ve collected CCTV footage from the nursing home and surrounding areas," Jain stated.
While personal enmity is suspected as a possible motive, the true cause will only be determined once the two boys are apprehended, Jain added.
