Fifteen fresh COVID-19 cases in Telangana on Thursday
Hyderabad, May 7 () Three people, who returned toTelangana from Mumbai, were among 15 people who testedpositive for COVID-19 in the state on Thursday,as thegovernment ramped up steps to test those returning from otherstates.

The state government is testing all thosereturning from other states and the three were found positiveas part of such tests, official sources said.

The remaining 12 cases are from the GreaterHyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area from where majorchunk of the total cases in the state are reported.

The GHMC has been a focus area for the governmentfor COVID-19 containment and Chief Minister K ChandrasekharRao on Wednesday asked officials to implement strict measuresin the city and its surrounding areas to check the virusspread.

With 15 people found positive on Thursday, thenumber of positive cases in the state rose to 1,122.

No fresh death due to the virus occurred and thenumber of people who succumbed to the infection continued tobe 29, a COVID-19 bulletin issued by the state governmentsaid.

As many as 45 people have been discharged fromhospitals on Thursday.

The bulletin said the number of people ofcured/discharged till date stood at 693.

Those undergoing treatment in hospitals forCOVID-19 till date was 400, the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, the Cyberabad police here in an appealto migrant workers said theadministration will take allsteps to address their grievances like reaching out to theirfamily members for health, medical emergencies, among others,and urged them to stay back.

"All their grievances will be addressed by theadministration and hence they are requested to stay back andstart the works," Cyberabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanarsaid.

As all the states are dealing with the COVID-19pandemic, those going to their respective states will beput under quarantine after medical examination, police said.

The Cyberabad Police also pointed out that labourintensive activities like construction have started inTelangana.

Mahesh Bhagwat, Commissioner of Rachakonda Policehere, visited a migrant workers registration counter in thecity and interacted with them on the process ofsending them back to their native states through the Shramikspecial trains, a police release said.

He appealed to them to stay back if possible andcontribute in the development of Telangana, it said, addingthat the migrant workers can reach out to the Rachakondacoronavirus control room for any emergency.
