Anandi Gopal Joshi — First female doctor of India

She was the first woman in India to learn and practice Western medicine. She was the first Indian woman to get a degree in medicine from the US.

Kalpana Chawla — First Indian woman to go to Space

She made history at NASA as the first female astronaut of Indian descent. She is regarded as a national hero in India.

Cornelia Sorabji — First lady advocate of India

She was the first woman to practice law in India. She received her first class degree from Bombay University in 1888.

Indira Gandhi — First female PM of India

Also known as ‘Iron lady of India’. She is the only female Prime Minister of India, so far. She served as Prime Minister from 1966-1977 and again in 1980-1984.
