For Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder subscribers, there are new rules that one needs to know of before placing the next order. From booking via Whatsapp to showing the One Time Password to the delivery person before taking in the gas cylinder, here’s all you need to know about the new LPG rules that have come into place from November 1.

Booking by Whatsapp

  • With all the old numbers for LPG booking being discarded, customers can now call or WhatsApp on 7718955555, which will be the official number across the country.
  • The common booking number will be available 24X7
  • Subscribers can type REFILL and send it to 7588888824 to place an order.
"The current system of telecom circle-specific phone numbers for booking Indane LPG refills will be discontinued after 31.10.2020 midnight and the common booking number for LPG refills i.e. 7718955555, will be in force," said the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Mobile number has to be updated

However, customers have to ensure their mobile numbers are registered before sending in a request. Subscribers can update their mobile number even through the delivery executive, who can update it real time on the app and generate a code.

OTP for delivery

For transparent delivery and ensuring no stealing of cylinders, subscribers will receive a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) via SMS and only after showing that will they be given the cylinder.

Currently, oil companies will first start DAC in 100 smart cities.
