Man tests positive for coronavirus in C'garh; state tally 11
Korba, Apr 9 () A 52-year-old man tested positivefor coronavirus in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, taking thetotal number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 11, officialssaid on Thursday.

The man had come in contact with 16 Tablighi Jamaatmembers who were staying at a mosque in Purani Basti area ofKatghora town, he said.

A 16-year-old boy from among these Islamicorganisation members earlier tested positive for coronaviruson April 4, and was admitted to the All India Institute ofMedical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur, he said.

"The 52-year-old man had taken part in a namaaz(prayer) with these Tablighi Jamaat members in the mosque andlives in the same locality," he said.

Korba Collector Kiran Kaushal said samples of 52people who had come in contact with these Tablighi Jamaatmembers were collected for testing, of which one came outpositive on Wednesday night.

The patient was shifted to AIIMS Raipur in the weehours of Thursday, she said.

The Katghora town has been put under complete lockdownand its border has been sealed as a precautionary measure, shesaid.

Family members of the infected person along with other234 families living in the area have been kept underquarantine, she added.

With this, total three COVID-19 cases have beendetected in Korba district so far.

So far, nine out of the total 11 patients in the statehave been discharged from hospitals after recovering from thedisease, another official said.

A religious congregation organised by Tablighi Jamaatat Nizamuddin in Delhi last month has emerged as one of theCOVID-19 hotspots in the country. COR TKPGK GK
