Nagaland — 39

The state also has the lowest incidence of crime, overall. The state had recorded 39 cases of crime against women per lakh population in 2019.

Sikkim — 140

A report released by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in 2016 declared Sikkim as the safest and the best place for working women. However, crime against women has gone up in the state as compared to 2019.

Mizoram — 172

Mizoram may not be the safest, but it is counted among one of the safest places in India. The crime rate slightly went up in 2020 as compared to 2019 with 170 cases per lakh population.

Goa — 219

As Goa attracts a lot of domestic as well as international tourists, the state is regarded as women-friendly by many. The number of cases also declined in 2020 as compared to 2019 (329 cases per lakh population).

Arunachal Pradesh — 281

The state saw a steep decline in the number of cases as compared to 2018 and 2019 (368 and 317 cases respectively per lakh population).

The number of cases recorded have declined in 2020 as compared to2019, when it had 266 cases per lakh population.

In 2019, the state had witnessed 568 cases per lakh population.

According to the NCRB, the state had registered 1070 cases per lakh population in 2019.

A slight decline in the number of cases was observed in 2020 as compared to 2019 (1636 cases per lakh population).
