Delhi COVID-19 restrictions: checkout what is allowed and what is not in the new guidelines

Along with the night curfew, Delhi government on Saturday also announced new guidelines to curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus. The new guidelines prohibit all social, political, religious, cultural, and entertainment gatherings.

Keeping in mind the COVID crisis, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a statement, on Sunday, that if the health system collapses, there will be no option but to impose lockdown again in the state. Delhi recorded 10,732 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the tally to 7,14,423 confirmed cases in the national capital.

Here is a list of what is allowed and what is not in the new guidelines issued by the Arvind Kejriwal government in the national capital —
New guidelines issued by the government —
  1. Cinemas theatres are allowed to operate with 50% seating capacity.
  2. Swimming pools shall remain closed, however training of sportsmen for national or global events are permitted.
  3. Delhi metro, DTC and cluster buses will operate with 50% seating capacity.
  4. Marriage functions with gatherings of 50 people are allowed and funeral gatherings of 20 people are permitted.
  5. Restaurants and bars are allowed to operate with 50% seating capacity.
  6. Educational institutions, colleges and schools shall remain closed, nevertheless, students of classes 9 to 12 may be called to school for pre-board or mid-term exams.
  7. Delhi Disaster Management Authority has made it mandatory for travellers from Maharashtra to carry negative COVID-19 reports of tests done 72 hours prior. If found without a report, they will be mandatorily quarantined for 14 days.
For the night curfew —
  1. Healthcare workers and government officials on duty are exempted from the curfew.
  2. Those travelling to and from airport, railway stations or interstate bus terminals are exempted, however people who are travelling interstate via private vehicles are not exempted, except in case of medical emergency.
  3. Those heading towards vaccination centres are allowed with an e-pass.
  4. Delivery personnels of eating joints, grocery stores and medical equipment are also exempted.
  5. Delhi’s Disaster Management Authority will exempt those from night curfew with e-tickets, green passes or identity cards which can be obtained by applying on the official Delhi Government website - http://www.delhi.gov.in.
