The current Indian government regime truly means business. After proclaiming to ignite digitization in the country, the initiating groundwork has been laid and set to kick off in big way.

National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and Intel have joined forces to offer Post-Graduate diploma courses in e-governance for women in India, kick starting the Digital India campaign and giving it the right platform. Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between these two parties, Intel will provide its expertise to NIELIT in charting out the course’s curriculum and offer services on the software/hardware front. The said Diploma course will be more focused towards practical learning for women and offer them insight into latest trends in the industry.

With tech majors like Intel joining in the Digital wagon, the Dept of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) hopes to attract more and more such public private partnerships that will instigate the true development of Digital India,” said Tapan Ray, additional secretary of DeitY.

In addition to the MoU, the Electronics governing body illustrated the roadmap in place for the coming years that includes, setting up of seven electronics and ICT academies across select state/UTs at an estimated budget of Rs 147.4 crores. Speaking on behalf of Intel, Debjani Ghosh, managing director, Intel South Asia emphasized, Intel’s commitment towards enabling with the groundwork to build the ‘Digital India’. “Intel has been at the forefront of creating over 35 lakh skilled man labour over the years and is determined to take that number to 50 lakh in the foreseeable future”.
