Queen Elizabeth II turns 95 on Wednesday, but she is said to be spending her birthday in "royal mourning" at Windsor Castle after her husband's death.

Prince Philip died at the age of 99 on April 9. The Queen had requested that the family observe two weeks of royal mourning after Philip's death.

The pair had celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary late last year.

"This year Her Majesty remains at Windsor Castle, during a period of Royal Mourning following the death of The Duke of Edinburgh," the Royal Family Instagram account wrote on Wednesday.

The Daily Mail's Rebecca English reported that the Queen was spending the day being visited by her family and walking her dogs.

Members of the royal family had been in Windsor over the weekend to attend Prince Philip's funeral.

But the Queen's son Prince Charles may not be seeing her, as he is in Wales, The Guardian reported.

Prince Harry also won't be around to celebrate his grandmother's birthday. The duke traveled from London to Los Angeles via an American Airlines flight on Tuesday, The Sun reports.

The royal was photographed leaving the airport and arriving in Santa Barbara, where he resides with Meghan Markle and their son, Archie, according to the newspaper.

Gun salutes that usually take place in London's Hyde Park and the Tower of London for the Queen's birthday are also not going ahead for the second year in the row because of the coronavirus pandemic, a Buckingham Palace representative confirmed to Insider.

The Queen's birthday is usually a muted event, as she also has an official birthday celebration in June, the Trooping the Colour parade, held at Buckingham Palace.

The parade, which usually consists of 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians, has also been canceled for the second straight year.

The palace has said the Queen is considering hosting a smaller parade at Windsor Castle in June, as she previously did last year.
