People are the most important resource in any country. Any nation is made of humans and not of infrastructure and physical assets alone. Population studies are important to guide our understanding of resources that influence the size, characteristics, growth, and distribution of humans in any given region in particular and the world in general. Governments use population studies to plan housing, education, health, employment, social security and environmental preservation.

Through population studies, we can analyze the rates of birth and death, patterns of immigration and the tables of life expectancy to be able to explain the trends in the past and also make predictions about future. Therefore, population studies are important for planning and resource allocation. We see the development and economic growth of several countries are highly influenced by their population.
