At least three people were shot outside of Nationals Park in Washington, DC, on Saturday, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

During a press conference on Saturday, Executive Assistant Chief of Police Ashan Benedict said three people were injured when people in two cars shot at each other, ESPN reported.

Police initially said two people were shot and transported to the hospital and two others showed up with gunshot wounds.

A bystander, a woman who was attending the game, was shot when she was outside the stadium, Benedict said. Two people in one of the cars went to a local hospital with gunshot wounds and were questioned.

Authorities are still looking for people who were in the second car involved. Benedict said the bystander is expected to be okay.

Fans at the game said they heard multiple gunshots during the game, WUSA9 reported. Police said the shooting occurred outside the Third Base Gate.

The shooting was not related to the game between the Washington Nationals and the San Diego Padres. The Nationals said in a tweet the game was suspended as a result.

Videos posted to social media show people running from their seats as gunshots are heard. An announcer can be heard telling fans to remain calm.

San Diego Union-Tribune reporter Kevin Acee said in a tweet that some players, including San Diego Padres player Fernando Tatís Jr., ran out into the crowd to grab family members and took them to the clubhouse.

Police said there's no ongoing threat to the community.
