Karnataka exit poll 2019 : BJP Lok Sabha Number can Increase In Karnataka

Almost all the exit polls suggest that BJP will over 20 seats in the current Elections, leaving the Congress and Janata Dal-Secular combine with less than half of it. This time around, BJP will be bagging a few more than they did, in 2014. No other party, polls predict, will make a difference to the elections which will elect the next prime minister.



A south western state in India, Karnataka came into existence in 1956 with the States Reorganization Act. Earlier called as the State of Mysore. It was renamed as Karnataka in 1973. Covering an area of 191,976, the state of Karnataka has 5,03,46,721 voters. The number of male voters in the state is 2,54,94,711 and the number of female voters is 2,48,47,292. There are 4,718 registered third gender voters in the state.

In 2014 General Elections for the Lok Sabha, the BJP got 17 seats from the state, INC secured 9 places while JD(S) won from 2 constituencies. In 2009 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP bagged 19 seats from Karnataka leaving the Congress party with 6 seats and the JD(S) with 3 seats. The 2004 Lok Sabha election results saw BJP claiming 18 constituencies, INC winning from 8 seats and JD(S) bagging 2 seats.

The state of Karnataka has 28 Lok Sabha seats in total. Among them, 5 are reserved for the scheduled castes and 2 are earmarked for the scheduled tribes. The state sends 12 Rajya Sabha members. The total number of assembly constituency in the state is 225 and the latest assembly elections were held in the state in May 2018. Karnataka went in for polling during the Lok Sabha elections 2019 in two phases on April 18 and April 23.
