When Lenovo acquired Motorola from Google in October last year, many were confused if they would expect a Lenovo G or E soon. But in Indian market, the company would keep two brands as separate entity and continue selling the products. In an interview with The Economic Times, the head of worldwide sales at Motorola Mobility, Colin Giles clarified, “"Depending on the market, we are identifying which brand is more suitable for which market. However, in a market like India where we've had very good success for Lenovo and Motorola, we believe we will be able to sustain both."

As hinted by Giles, India and China may be the only two markets where Lenovo will sell both Lenovo and Motorola branded smartphones. North American countries including the US will get only the Motorola brand while some of the Asian countries will get only Lenovo branded smartphones. Since the company has already integrated manufacturing and supply chain operations of the two companies and is now trying to combine many back-end operations as well, according to the ET.

Also, Motorola will continue to remain a separate entity and Motorola and Lenovo stores will not carry each other's products.
