At Business Insider's IGNITION 2016 conference, RBC Capital Markets analyst Mark Mahaney gave an insightful presentation about Amazon's success.

He then sat down with Business Insider Global Editor in Chief and CEO Henry Blodget to talk about how Amazon has found success in so many areas.

The three pillars of Amazon are Marketplace, Prime, and Web Services, and they have all been majorly successful.

When asked how Amazon can be so good in so many areas, Mahaney said, "At the end of the day, it always comes back to how good and consistent the management team is."

Amazon, like Facebook, has a founder who has remained the CEO and stayed involved in the company. When CEOs stay excited about the business, it is probably going to be more successful.

"You keep that team together, they're more likely to get hits than losses," Mahaney said.

As someone who has studied internet and technology stocks on Wall Street for 20 years, Mahaney noticed "it usually all comes back to how good the entrepreneurs are, and whether the entrepreneurs have managerial skills."
