Not very encouraging. A mere 1.53% rise in domestic car sales in June

The sales of domestic cars increased by 1.53% to 1,62,677 units in June from 1,60,232 units in the same month last year.

Motorcycle sales rose marginally in June to 8,77,696 units from 8,77,289 units during the same period last year, PTI reported, citing the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

While the total two-wheeler sales increased 3.55% to 13,07,710 units in June, sales of commercial vehicles rose marginally to 51,446 units in the last month, SIAM said.

Vehicle sales across categories registered an increase of 2.56% to 16,20,673 units from 15,80,173 units in June 2014, it added.
