  • The Business Platinum® Card from American Express is currently offering its highest-ever welcome bonus of up to 100,000 Amex Membership Rewards points.
  • You'll earn 50,000 points after you spend $10,000 and another 50,000 points after you spend an additional $15,000, all in the first three months from opening your card account.
  • That's a lot of spending to earn the full bonus, but if you have a business with significant monthly expenses, this is a great way to put them toward some valuable rewards.
  • Based on The Points Guy's valuations, 100,000 Amex points are worth $2,000 toward free travel with the Membership Rewards program's airline and hotel partners.

In early fall, Amex brought back its highest-ever welcome bonus on its most premium business card, the Amex Business Platinum. The offer can earn you up to 100,000 Amex Membership Rewards points - 50,000 points after you spend $10,000 and another 50,000 points after you spend an additional $15,000, all in the first three months from account opening.

The offer's end date is approaching. You only have until December 4 to apply and earn up to 100,000 Amex points, so don't wait.

This is a great opportunity to maximize your points if you're a small-business owner who values luxury travel perks, like airport lounge access, annual statement credits to cover travel-related purchases, and the ability to earn 5x bonus points when you book travel through Amex.

Keep in mind that we're focusing on the rewards and perks that make these credit cards great options, not things like interest rates and late fees, which will far outweigh the value of any points or miles. It's important to practice financial discipline when using credit cards by paying your balances in full each month, making payments on time, and only spending what you can afford to pay back.

Who should jump on this offer?

Compared to personal rewards credit card welcome bonuses, the minimum spending requirement for the Business Platinum offer is very high. For example, to earn 60,000 Amex Membership Rewards points with the Platinum Card® from American Express, you "only" need to spend $5,000 in the first three months from account opening.

As the Business Platinum card is a small-business card, Amex tailors these spending requirements to a company, not an individual. Even some small businesses may not spend enough to earn the full bonus of 100,000 points - in which case, it could be worth looking at other business credit cards, like the Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, instead.

The Business Platinum card has a $595 annual fee, which not every business owner will want to pay. However, if you and your employees travel a lot on the job, benefits like Amex Centurion lounge access, up to $200 per year in airline incidental fee credits, and a 35% points rebate when you redeem points to book first- or business-class flights, or any class of flight with the airline you designate as your preferred airline through Amex make that hefty annual fee worth the cost.

What are 100,000 Amex points worth?

The Points Guy values Amex Membership Rewards points at 2 cents apiece, which means if you earn the Business Platinum's full welcome bonus of 100,000 points, you'll get about $2,000 in value. This valuation assumes you use your Amex points to book travel with the Membership Rewards program's transfer partners, which include ANA, Hilton, JetBlue, Marriott Bonvoy, and Singapore Airlines.

You can use Amex points to book travel directly through Amex or to get cash back, but your points will never be worth more than 1 cent apiece with these options. For more information, see our guide on the best ways to use Amex points.

Don't forget the December 4 end date

The Business Platinum card is a great premium business card even without the welcome bonus factored in, but if you're already planning to spend $25,000 on business expenses over the next three months, this limited-time offer could help you get more points for your spending.

If you're interested, make sure to apply by December 4 to secure this welcome bonus.
