Delhi voters go 100% EPIC

The Election Commission of India is getting the Delhi Vidhan Sabha ready for the 2020 Assembly election. In a press note published on 6 January 2020, the EC stated that the mission of issuing EPIC to all eligible voters in Delhi has been fully completed ahead of the Assembly election polls in February.

As per the announcement, all the voters on the electoral rolls of Delhi Vidhan Sabha are equipped with EPIC to produce at the polling booth when they go to cast their vote.

Photo electoral rolls are 100% updated

On the other hand, every voter in Delhi has a Voter ID card. On the other hand, the EC has also updated its photo electoral rolls. Now the photo percentage of the Photo Electoral Rolls of the NCT of Delhi is 100%.

EPIC is not mandatory to cast vote in the assembly election 2020

While every voter is accounted and all of them have valid identification, the question remains whether EPIC is a mandatory document to cast your vote in the 2020 Assembly elections. The EC has approved a number of government-issued IDs that can serve as valid ID and photo proof instead of a voter ID card. So, voters are allowed to produce any one of them at the polling booth to prove their identity. This will mean that carrying EPIC is not mandatory while casting vote in the Delhi Elections.
