In 2008 elections, Balram Tanwar had become the MLA from this seat scoring 32406 votes on behalf of INC. He defeated the BJP contestant Brahm Singh Tanwar who got 27376 votes. From 2008, INC, BJP and AAP held this seat for one term each.
