Over 40% of Haryana Assembly Election 2019 candidates are crorepatis
  • Out of the 1138 candidates analysed by the Association of Democratic Reforms, 481 or 42% are crorepatis.
  • The Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party both have 79 crorepatis.

The people of Haryana will vote for the Assembly elections on October 21, 2019 where 1169 candidates will fight out for 90 seats.

These powerful people in politics are not short of a bob or two either.

According to the Association of Democratic Reforms, out of the 1138 candidates analysed by them, 481 or 42% are crorepatis.

The Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party both have 79 crorepatis, even though they have a total of 87 and 89 candidates respectively fighting for seats. Jannayak Janta Party which also has 87 candidates fighting for power, has 62 crorepatis.

Meanwhile, the Indian National Lok Dal has 50 crorepatis, whereas 34 from BSP too have the same status.

Rohtas Singh from Jannayak Janta Party is the richest candidate with assets worth ₹325 crores.

And, the average assets per candidate stands at ₹4.3 crore.

INC candidates top the list of assets with an average of ₹13.72 crore, followed by BJP candidates who have an average of ₹11.62 crore.
