Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are looking to expand their estate in New Jersey as they plan their life after the White House, The New York Times reported on Tuesday.

The report comes amid signs that the high-flying New York social scene they once moved in might not welcome them back.

The plans for Trump and Kushner's property include new rooms in their main home, a "relocated heliport," five "cottages" of 5,000 square feet each, a recreation and spa complex, and a "general store," according to The Times.

Trump representatives are due to present the plans to Bedminster Township on December 3, The Times reported, though a friend of the family told the outlet that construction had already begun.

It's not clear where Trump and Kushner plan to base themselves after President-elect Joe Biden takes office on January 20 and they lose their roles as White House advisors.

The Times reported that the plans in Bedminster came as their former social circle in New York looked poised to spurn them.

Donny Deutsch, a Manhattan brand-management professional who is frequently critical of the president, told The Times that the couple "will even have a harder time than Trump himself" at reintegrating in New York.

"He's despicable but larger than life," Deutsch said. "Those two are the hapless minions who went along."

CNN previously reported that the couple's New York social circle looked likely to reject them.

And Ivanka Trump's childhood friend recently wrote a tell-all essay for Vanity Fair in hopes of making it harder for her to come back to New York.

The Times also said Trump and Kushner had been met with opposition in social circles in Washington, DC.
