Jared Kushner has alleged in his forthcoming memoir that John F. Kelly, who served as former President Donald Trump's second chief of staff, once shoved Ivanka Trump in the White House, according to The Washington Post.

Kelly did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment but denied the allegation in a statement to The Post.

"It is inconceivable that I would EVER shove a woman. Inconceivable. Never happen," Kelly told the newspaper. "Would never intentionally do something like that. Also, don't remember ever apologizing to her for something I didn't do. I'd remember that."

The outlet obtained early excerpts from Kushner's "Breaking History: A White House Memoir" in which the former first son-in-law and presidential adviser describes Kelly as "consistently duplicitous," a bully, and evocative of "Jekyll-and-Hyde."

"One day he had just marched out of a contentious meeting in the Oval Office," Kushner writes, according to The Post. "Ivanka was walking down the main hallway in the West Wing when she passed him. Unaware of his heated state of mind, she said, 'Hello, chief.' Kelly shoved her out of the way and stormed by. She wasn't hurt, and didn't make a big deal about the altercation, but in his rage Kelly had shown his true character."

Kushner's account continues, according to the newspaper, with Kelly visiting Ivanka in her West Wing office about an hour after the alleged push. The four-star Marine general offered Ivanka a "meek apology," Kushner alleges, which she accepted.

In his memoir, which is out next month, Kushner also wrote that Ivanka Trump's chief of staff, Julie Radford, was witness to Kelly's apology.

An attorney for Ivanka did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, but her spokesperson confirmed her husband's version of events in a statement to The Post. Radford also told the outlet that she remembered Kelly's apology.

Kelly became Trump's chief of staff halfway through his first year in office and quickly took it upon himself to impose order in the freewheeling West Wing. Kelly grew increasingly frustrated with both Ivanka and Kushner, according to reports from the time, and left the administration in January 2019.

After his departure, Kelly was critical of the couple in veiled insults and interviews. He has also openly slammed Trump several times in the aftermath of his resignation.
