After the election results, eyes are on departing President Donald Trump and how he can hold power inside the Republican Party despite losing the White House. The big question for Republicans is not whether Trump will keep a grip on the party, but whether that grip will be as absolute as it has been the last four years — and whether he will indeed run again for president in 2024.

Trump and his family have already issued a series of loyalty tests, demanding support for their false accusations of voter fraud, and other Republicans with their eyes set on running for the White House in 2024 have obliged.

The first clear gauge of Trump's power as an outgoing president will be a pair run-off special elections for the Senate in Georgia. If Trump and his family are called on successfully to help drive Republican voter turnout and the Republicans hold both seats and control of the Senate, that will likely be viewed as a victory for Trump and further cement his grip on the GOP. But if either or both candidates lose, or Trump's brand is seen hurting them, than that will further weaken Trump.

Join Insider politics reporter Tom LoBianco in conversation with Insider global editor-in-chief Nich Carlson who will be breaking down what happens to Republicans and Trump at 1:00 PM EDT on Thursday.

We'll also be taking your questions about anything from which Republicans are actively considering White House runs in 2024 to who might be the new leaders of the GOP during the Biden era.
