Kevin McCarthy floats working with Elon Musk once he's out of Congress: 'I love entrepreneurs'
  • Kevin McCarthy is leaving Congress at the end of the month after being ouster from the speakership.
  • He know says he's interested in pursuing a career in AI and floated working with Elon Musk.

Kevin McCarthy is set to leave Congress in a matter of days, and he's already musing about a future career, possibly in promoting artificial intelligence.

In an interview with Axios, the recently ousted speaker — who's resigning from Congress at the end of the month — even floated working with Elon Musk, the controversial tech entrepreneur.

"I view AI as a positive," McCarthy told the outlet, saying he'd like to be a bridge between Washington and the tech industry in his home state of California.

"AI is where California is going to come back," said McCarthy. "The knowledge and capability of AI is streaming from California."

McCarthy and Musk, the owner of SpaceX, reportedly talk and text frequently and have been friends since 2015, when the former speaker passed a bill related to commercial space exploration.

"I love entrepreneurs," McCarthy told Axios.

Earlier this year, Musk visited Capitol Hill to meet with McCarthy, where they discussed ways to "ensure Twitter becomes a platform that is fair to all parties." Musk bought the platform last year, later renaming it "X."

"He came for my birthday," McCarthy told reporters at the time.
