Former President Donald Trump reacted to his daughter Ivanka Trump's testimony to the House January 6 committee by suggesting she does not understand elections.

The committee investigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot on Thursday aired her video testimony, in which she said she "accepted" that there was no fraud in the 2020 election that could have changed its result.

She said she was swayed by then-Attorney General Bill Barr, who rejected pressure from Donald Trump to endorse his fraud claims. Barr has separately described those claims as "bullshit."

Trump pushed back on this in a Friday morning post on his social-media platform, Truth Social: "Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results. She had long since checked out and was, in my opinion, only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as Attorney General (he sucked!)."

The committee held its first public hearing on Thursday night and made the case that Trump and his allies mounted an "attempted coup" in the US. It included testimony from Ivanka Trump, her husband, Jared Kushner, the former attorney general, a Capitol Police officer, a documentary filmmaker, and rioters on the scene that day.

Trump did not elaborate on what he meant by Ivanka being "checked out."

The New York Times reported earlier this week that she and Kushner were not part of the intense efforts by Trump and others to overturn the 2020 election results in the weeks after the vote. Instead, the paper said, they were quietly planning to leave Washington, DC.

Trump on Friday also attacked the committee and repeated bogus claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election.

"So the Unselect Committee of political HACKS refuses to play any of the many positive witnesses and statements, refuses to talk of the Election Fraud and Irregularities that took place on a massive scale," he wrote on Truth Social. "Our Country is in such trouble!"
