Speculation is rife that Indian cricket team’s jersey might turn completely orange. And, it has not gone down well the opposition leaders of the country who believe that it is yet another act of ‘Saffronising’ everything in the country.

A report by IANS earlier said that this time around the colour of team jersey will change from its blue colour.

Several political leaders have objected the idea of Indian cricket team wearing complete orange in the ICC World Cup match 2019 against England, on Sunday.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC) the Indian cricket team is going to change the classic blue color of its jersey to orange to differentiate itself from England — which has a similar attire. However, there is no confirmation from BCCI whether it will be completely orange.

“For the past five years, the Modi-led government is trying to saffronise each and every thing. Be it sports, cultural activities or anything for that matter,” said Congress lawmaker Arif Naseem Khan, according to ANI.

The orange jersey design is inspired by the old Indian T20 jersey. But, the players do not seem to be concerned with their attire.

“We are not even aware of what colour we are going to be wearing, so we have not given any thought to that. All our focus is on the match tomorrow,” said India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun.
