Born in Jaunpur in 1949, Vivek held a Masters degree in Ancient History & Archaeology, and was spotted by Shyam Benegal, who offered him
a role in the 1978 movie Junoon.
The thespian was last seen in Telugu movie Yevade Subramanyam (2015), while Son of Sardar (2012) was his last Hindi movie. In a career spanning almost four decades, Vivek played a variety of roles in different languages and mediums-television, cinema and theatre.
He will also be remembered for his role as sage Ved Vyasa in B.R Chopra’s epic TV series Mahabharat, which won him accolades.
