In Lucknow, union minister and BJP leader Rajnath Singh was leading with 64.69% vote share, according to early leads. Poonam Shatrughan Sinha of the Samajwadi Party was trailing with 23.94% of vote share, according to Election Commission.

Union Minister Rajnath Singh is contesting elections from Lucknow against Poonam Sinha, wife of Shatrughan Sinha, who is a Samajwadi candidate, and who gave him some anxious moments during the campaign. Lucknow went for polls with other high profile constituencies including Amethi, and Rae Bareli

Home Minister Rajnath Singh appears to have a reach across all the communities in the capital city. The BJP is expected to benefit from the legacy of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee who represented the seat.

Poonam Sinha is the wife of actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha and her campaign got a boost with the participation of her daughter and Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha.
