Ryan Fresen has made a business out of reselling sneakers.

For any successful business, organization is key. The same is true for independent resellers, many of whom move dozens of pieces of merchandise and pull in thousands of dollars a month.

Ryan Fresen runs his sneaker resale business full-time from his bedroom. The 24-year-old has been running his business full-time since graduating college near the end of 2018 and estimated that he made around $110,000 in profit in 2019.

"Growing up I've always had an entrepreneurial mindset," Fresen told Business Insider. "I knew I didn't want to work for someone else, I knew I didn't want to wake up every morning and go to work 8-5 and be miserable."

Fresen mostly sells his merchandise through his Instagram, 860_kicks, which has over 38,000 followers. He also gave Business Insider a breakdown of how he built a strong resale brand on the social media platform.

Running your own business comes with its challenges, and Fresen said staying organized is essential for success. To do this, Fresen uses a meticulously organized spreadsheet, which he shared with Business Insider, to track his sales, expenses, and month-to-month growth.

"I know a lot of people who sell shoes, they're not paying taxes like they're supposed to and they're not keeping track of their inventory," Fresen said. He uses an Excel spreadsheet to track his personal progress and a service called QuickBooks to take care of his taxes.

"I like the spreadsheet because it's my way to gauge what I'm doing," Fresen said.

Here's a breakdown of what Fresen's spreadsheet looks like and how he organizes his business:
