Shoppers are praising Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos for publicly scolding customers who sent him racist messages.

Bezos posted screenshots of emails from two Amazon customers in the last several days that criticized the company's support for the Black Lives Matter movement. One of the messages, from a man named Dave, was laced with profanity and racial slurs and said, "my business relationship with you is over." (Warning: Graphic language)

Bezos responded to the message in a caption posted to Instagram, saying in part, "Dave, you're the kind of customer I'm happy to lose."

Bezos also wrote: "This sort of hate shouldn't be allowed to hide in the shadows. It's important to make it visible. This is just one example of the problem."

Bezos's posts criticizing customers' emails have won widespread support online. As of Monday, the posts had garnered more than 485,000 likes and 31,000 comments on Instagram. An overwhelming majority of the responses appeared to be positive, with praise for Bezos and pledges to spend more money on Amazon.

Another Instagram user, @octobergonz, wrote, "Let's all #ordersfordave and triple our orders to make up for his! Bye DAVE!!!"

"I just placed a huge order on amazon and about to place another. Bye daveeeeee," wrote @yasmeenscarab.

One person said they planned to sign up for an Amazon subscription in response to Bezos's posts, and wrote, "It's powerful people like yourself who will help end inequality."

Amazon pledged support for the Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who died after a police officer knelt on his neck.

The company posted a banner at the top of its website last week saying, "Black lives matter. Amazon stands in solidarity with the Black community." The company also said it planned to donate $10 million to organizations supporting justice and equity, including the NAACP and the National Urban League.
