Man arrested for stealing truck filled with $48,000 worth of Cadbury Creme Eggs

A man was convicted in England after UK authorities said he broke into an industrial park and stole a truck filled with 200,000 Cadbury Creme Eggs.

According to prosecutors, Joby Pool used a metal grinder to break into an industrial park in Telford, England on February 11, the Associated Press reported. Once inside, prosecutors said he made off in a stolen truck containing more than $48,000 worth of Cadbury Creme Eggs, according to the AP.

Pool pleaded guilty Tuesday, and is set to be sentenced in Crown Court next month, the BBC reported.

"The conviction is in relation to the theft of chocolate, including almost 200,000 Creme Eggs, from a unit in Stafford Park in Telford on 11 Feb 2023," West Mercia police wrote in a tweet Tuesday. "The chocolate is estimated to be worth £40k, and was recovered when officers stopped a vehicle on the M42 northbound."

West Mercia Police said earlier this week that their officers "saved Easter for Creme Egg fans," according to the BBC.

The heist has garnered international attention, with some on social media seeming to side with Pool.

"Given the shrinkflation of Cadbury eggs over the years, I'd argue it's the moral thing to do," one person tweeted. "Steal back the % of Cadbury egg they've stolen from us."
