White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders required reporters to give thanks before asking questions at a press briefing on Monday.
"I want to share a few things that I'm thankful for, and I think it would be nice to do so as well before asking your questions," Sanders said before the briefing.
Sanders thanked her family, President Donald Trump, the White House press pool, law enforcement, first responders, and the "brave men and women of the military."
Most reporters thanked their families and significant others.
American Urban Radio Network correspondent April Ryan said she was was thankful for life, her children, 20 years in her job, and getting to question Sanders "every single day," while Fox News radio's John Decker thanked his health, family, faith, and the country broadly.
But other reporters said they were thankful for the protections afforded by the First Amendment, and the ability to ask a question.
"I'm thankful for the First Amendment and for this exercise," Bloomberg's Margaret Talev quipped.
"I think it's good preparation for Thursday and preparation for your families," Sanders replied.
