Hurricane Ida

Hurricane Ida was a tropical cyclone that hit the US state of Louisiana displacing 14,000 people and causing 95 deaths. It cost a total of $65 billion in damages.

European floods

The European floods that occurred in Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg cost $43 billion, and 240 deaths.

Texas Winter Storm

The Texas Winter Storm in the US was the first major climatic disaster of 2021 and it cost $23 billion.

Henan floods

China's Henan province was affected by severe floods in July this year that cost $17.6 billion in damages with over 72,000 people displaced.

British Columbia floods

British Columbia in Canada also witnessed devastating floods and it cost $7.5 billion with 15,000 people displaced.

French cold wave

The French cold wave took place in April this year and the climatic disaster led to $5.6 billion in damages.

Cyclone Yaas

Earlier this year in May the severe Cyclone Yaas affected parts of India and Bangladesh which led to $3 billion in total damages.

Australian Floods

Australia was the first to witness major floods this year that caused two deaths, and displacement of 18,000 people and a cost of $2.1 billion.

Typhoon In-Fa

Typhoon In-Fa affected parts of China, the Philippines and Japan this year costing $2 billion, and over 72,000 people displaced.

Cyclone Tauktae

India along with Sri Lanka and the Maldives witnessed another cyclone ‘Tauktae’ that cost $1.5 billion, displacement of over 200,000 people and 198 deaths.
