Without milk, paneer wouldn’t exist. Without paneer, arguably, vegetarians would be scarce. However, the soaring cost of milk has made paneer a luxury item for the common man and unreachable for the undernourished poor. Tap to know how the rate of milk has risen since 2014.

In May 2014, prices were Rs 48 for full cream milk, Rs 38 for toned milk, Rs 34 for double toned milk, and Rs 36 for token milk. By January 2024, prices increased to Rs 68 per litre for full cream milk, Rs 56 per litre for toned milk, and Rs 50 per litre for double toned milk.

In December 2014, Nandini blue milk was priced at Rs 29 per litre. As of June 2024, the price ranges between Rs 44-45 per litre.

In January 2014, Amul Taaza was priced at Rs 36 per litre and Amul Gold at Rs 46 per litre. As of January 2024, Amul Taaza costs Rs 56 per litre and Amul Gold costs Rs 68 per litre.

In October 2014, prices were Rs 34 for toned milk (blue), Rs 39 for standardised milk (green) and Rs 43 for full cream milk (orange). By January 2024, prices increased to Rs 43 for toned milk, Rs 47 for standardised milk and Rs 51 for full cream milk.

In February 2014, 500ml of toned milk was priced at Rs 17-18. As of June 2024, toned milk is priced at Rs 27 per half litre.
