Walmart's ambitions are becoming clearer as it pushes into the $3.6 trillion US healthcare industry. Its plans make the retailer a 'sleeping giant to watch.'

• In the past year, Walmart has been beefing up its healthcare ambitions starting with health clinics in Georgia.
• Since then, Walmart's made a foray into the business of selling insurance policies and bought the prescription management tech of pharmacy startup CareZone.
• As retailers increasingly make a push to offer healthcare services, Walmart could be the "sleeping giant" worth watching, analysts at Morgan Stanley wrote in a note Friday.
