2022 was a truly momentous year for space exploration as we witnessed NASA complete the Artemis 1 mission to put humanity back on the Moon. Likewise, ISRO has been making several breakthroughs in the field of space exploration.

As of October 2022, India has launched about 381 satellites for different countries, including the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Sweden, and others. Further, let’s check out upcoming space missions by ISRO in 2023 and beyond.

Gaganyaan-3

Gaganyaan-3 is ISRO’s first manned mission to space in collaboration with DRDO and HAL. The mission starts with sending two unmanned test flights, Gaganyaan 1 and Gaganyaan 2, before launching its three-manned satellite.

Aditya – L1

This is India’s first mission for solar observation and currently, it is being developed by ISRO and various other Indian research institutes. It is expected to launch in March 2023.

Chandrayaan-3

Expected to launch in mid-2023, the Chandrayaan-3 is the successor of Chandrayaan-2.

X-ray Polarimeter Satellite

The X-ray Polarimeter Satellite is India's first dedicated polarimetry mission to study various dynamics of bright astronomical X-ray sources in extreme conditions. The spacecraft will carry two payloads in the low earth orbit.

NISAR

NISAR is a joint Earth-observing mission between NASA and ISRO. This satellite will be used for remote sensing to understand the natural processes of the Earth like the Arctic and Antarctic cryosphere.

Mangalyaan 2

Mangalyaan 2 is ISRO’s second interplanetary mission to launch on Mars. The aim of the mission will be to understand the early stages of Mars.
