This communication satellite is built by ISRO for NewSpace India Limited (NSIL). It is the first satellite configured and built by ISRO but owned, operated, and funded by NSIL for commercial users.

Future plans of NSIL

NSIL is planning to launch three passenger satellites for Singapore from Sriharikota. These satellites will be launched using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).
