Several people have been injured and police arrested a suspect after a car crashed near the UK Houses of Parliament

Several people have been injured after a car collided with the barriers outside the outside the UK Houses of Parliament in London. 

The crash occurred at 7:37 am local time, according to Metropolitan Police. Police arrested the male driver.

Several people have been injured. Several reports indicate at least some of the injured were cyclists. 

It is unclear if the incident was was terror related. 

Video posted to Twitter by Euronews/NBC UK journalist Vincent McAviney shows large police presence at the scene as the man is led from the car in handcuffs. 

Westminster Station has been closed for entry and exit as police respond to the event. Several streets around nearby Parliament Square and Victoria Tower Gardens have been cordoned off.
