There’s a dynasty clash happening in the Parli constituency between the Mundes. Gopinath Munde’s daughter, Pankaja Munde, is following in her father’s footsteps and fighting the election for the BJP. Meanwhile Gopinath’s nephew, Dhananjay Munde is standing from the NCP.
Another dynasty clash in happening in the Beed constituency. NCP is fielding Sandeep Kshirsagar against his uncle Jaydutt Kshirsagar. Jaydutt was with the NCP earlier but later switched over to the Shiv Sena.
Shiv Sena’s Aaditya Thakeray isn’t a dynasty candidate in the conventional sense since this is the first time the family has contested an election. But Aaditya is the son of Uddhav Thackeray, grandson of Bal Thackeray and nephew Raj Thackeray. He’s contending the Maharashtra Assembly election 2019 from Worli constituency.
Dushyant, Digvijay and Arjun Chautala
Three of Om Prakash Chautala’s grandsons are fighting in the Haryana Assembly election.
Three Chautalas are fighting in the Haryana Assembly election. Dushyant Chautala and Digvijay Chautala are being fielded by the JJP from Hisar and Sonepat, respectively. Arjun Chautala, the son of JJP founder Abhay Chautala is contesting the Haryana Assembly election from Kurukshetra constituency for the INLD.
Bhupender Hooda is contesting the election from Sonipat for Congress. He held the CM position from 2004 to 2014 and has also been an MP four times from Rohtak. Bhupender’s father, Chaudhary Ranbir Singh Hood was also a senior Congress leader and served as MP thrice.
Bhupender’s son, Deepender Singh Hooda, is contesting for the party from Rohtak.
Nitesh Rane is the son of Narayan Rane, former chief minister of Maharashtra in 1999. At the time Narayan was with the Shiv Sena, but he later joined Congress. He served as the state minister when the Congress-NCP government was in power.
His son, Nitesh, is contesting from Kankavali constituency — but is being fielded by the BJP.
Ashok Chavan — son of Shankarrao Chavan and former chief minister of Maharashtra — is contesting the election from Bhokar constituency. If he wins the election and Congress comes into power, then he will be one of the key contenders for the chief minister post.
Both of Prithiviraj Chavan’s parents were politicians. The late Dajisaheb Chavan served as a Lok Sabha MP from the Karad constituency from 1957 to 1973. After his death, his wife Premalakaki Chavan took charge of his seat and won four times.
In the Maharashtra Assembly election, Prithiviraj Chavan is being fielded by the Congress from Karad South constituency.
The Deshmukh brothers
The Deshmukh brothers are contesting the election for Congress from their family stronghold — Latur. Dhiraj Deshmukh, the younger brother, is standing from rural Latur. Amit Deshmukh, having won in rural Latur twice, is contesting the Maharashtra Assembly election 2019 from urban Latur.
Their father, the late Vilasrao Deshmukh, served as Maharashtra’s chief minister for two terms.
Praniti Shinde, daughter of former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, is standing from Solapur Central for Congress.
Ajit Pawar, nephew of Sharad Pawar, is contesting the election from Baramati for the NCP. Sharad Pawar’s grandson is also in the running from Karjat Wankhede.
Sunil Rane, son of former BJP minister Datta Rane, is fighting the Maharashtra Assembly election from Borivali.
Eknath Khadse, a BJP leader, is not contesting the elections this time around — he was key opponent against Devendra Fadnavis during the last assembly election. But his daughter Rohini Khadse is contending the Muktainagar seat.
Namita Mundada, daughter-in-law of the NCP MLA late Vimaltai Mundada, is being fielded by the BJP from the Kej constituency.
Bharat Gavit is the son of nine-term Congress MP Nandurbar Manikrao Gavit. He is contesting the election from Nawapur constituency for the BJP.
Kuldeep and Bhavya Bishnoi
Adampur is the stronghold of former Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal. His son, Kuldeep Bishnoi, is contesting the Haryana Assembly election for Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). He’s up against BJP’s Mahila Morcha vice president and TikTok star, Sonali Phogat.
Kuldeep Bishnoi’s son, Bhavya Bishnoi is fielding the election from Hisar.
Rao Inderjit Singh, son of former Haryana Chief Minister Rao Birender Singh, is currently the sitting MP from Gurgaon. He recently ended his family’s long association with Congress and switched over to the BJP.
Kuldeep Sharma, son of Chrinaji Lal who won from Karnal four times in a row, is looking to carry the family legacy forward. He will be contesting the election for Congress.
