A bloodied, bruised, and stitched-up Dan Hooker offered "no excuses" in a video message posted on Instagram after his brutal loss to Dustin Poirier in a slobberknocker UFC fight for the ages.

Hooker and Poirier exchanged 572 total strikes in their 25-minute, five-round, behind-closed-doors fight at the UFC Apex, a UFC-owned facility in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Poirier edged the bout, winning by decision according to the Octagonside judges. However, both fighters were sent to the hospital as a precaution because of the facial injuries they sustained from beating each other so badly.

When Hooker returned to his hotel suite, he sent his followers on social media a message.

"Hey everyone, just back in the hotel," he said. "I got checked out at the hospital, everything's all good. Just got a couple stitches on the eye but hey, this is the game we play, no worries. Just a small setback and I'll be back."
