  • Qatar’s Qetaifan Projects has partnered with ADMARES to set up ‘floating hotels’ that will help accommodate the influx of fans during the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
  • These hotels will float on the water and can be moved to other coastal locations once the month-long tournament is over.
  • Here are some pictures that show what the fleet of floating hotels will look like once it’s completed.
The FIFA World 2022 is only two years away and plans are underway to set up 16 floating hotels to help Qatar host the influx of football fans.

Qatar’s Qetaifan Projects has partnered ADMARES, a company based in Finland that specialises in ‘floating real estate’, to set up these hotels.

The accommodation has been a concern with respect to Qatar hosting the World Cup in 2022. There are currently fewer than 40,000 hotel rooms in the country. However, reports say organisers have plans to jump that up to 70,000 before the sporting event kicks off.

Qatar has plans to accommodate fans on cruise ships and in tented villages to expand its capacity.

Even then, more than a million people are expected to attend the month-long tournament.

These 16 hotels will add to Qetaifan Project’s Island North project whose aim is to serve the tourism, hospitality and entertainment sectors of Qatar.
