Rohit Sharma has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to become the player to hit the most centuries in World Cups. Sharma now has seven World Cup centuries, ahead of Tendulkar who has six centuries to his name.

Fastest hundred in ODI World Cup by an Indian

Rohit Sharma has also made the record of the fastest hundred in an ODI World Cup by an Indian. Sharma scored his hundred against Afghanistan in 63 balls. This hundred also became the fifth fastest hundred overall in tournament history.

Most sixes by an Indian in World Cups

Rohit Sharma also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most sixes in World Cups by an Indian. He has hit 28 sixes in 19 innings, ahead of Tendulkar’s 27 sixes in 45 innings.

Rohit Sharma now holds the record of most sixes by a player at 556 sixes, surpassing Chris Gayle’s record of 553 sixes.

Ponting overtaken in ODI centuries list

Rohit Sharma has surpassed former Australian captain, Ricky Ponting in the total ODI hundreds list. Sharma with 31 centuries to his name, is now only behind Tendulkar and Kohli.

Fastest player to reach 1,000 runs in ODI World Cups

Rohit Sharma has also equalled David Warner’s record to become the fastest player to reach 1,000 runs in ODI World Cups. Both the players achieved this milestone in 19 matches.

Rohit Sharma holds the record for most runs in an ODI innings, having scored 264 runs against Sri Lanka in 2014 at Eden Gardens.

Rohit Sharma also holds the record for scoring the highest runs in an innings from boundaries. He hit 33 fours and 9 sixes to score 186 runs against Sri Lanka in 2014 during his 264 runs innings.
