Ink Business Preferred card
  • The Ink Business Preferred Credit Card from Chase is one of the best small business credit cards out there. It has strong rewards and travel protection, with a reasonable annual fee of $95.
  • The card just launched an increased sign-up bonus of 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $15,000 in the first three months.
  • If you redeemed those 100,000 points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel website, you'd get $1,250 in value.
  • Spending $15,000 in three months may not be reasonable depending on your business' size and general purchase habits. You should never spend more than you can afford in order to earn rewards points.
  • See Business Insider's list of the best small business credit cards.

The Ink Business Preferred card is one of the top credit cards for small business owners, because it offers very strong rewards and solid travel perks for a reasonable annual fee of $95. It's also known for offering one of the best sign-up bonuses around, but it just got even better thanks to a new, increased offer.

We're focused here on the rewards and perks that come with each card. These cards won't be worth it if you're paying interest or late fees. When using a credit card, it's important to pay your balance in full each month, make payments on time, and only spend what you can afford to pay.

Earn 100,000 points with the Ink Business Preferred card

New cardholders can now earn 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points with the Ink Business Preferred card after they spend $15,000 in the first three months. That's up from the previous 80,000-point offer, which required spending $5,000 in the first three months.

Chase Ultimate Rewards are some of the most valuable travel points around because you can transfer them to airlines including British Airways, United, and Singapore Airlines and hotel programs like Hyatt and Marriott. The Points Guy values Chase points at 2 cents apiece, which is on the high end for rewards currencies.

You'll usually get the most value transferring your points to book fancy first-class flights, but you can also get great value with hotel partners and through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal. With this latter option, you can use your Chase points to book flights, hotels, rental cars, and more without having to transfer them. If you have the Ink Business Preferred card, your points are worth 1.25 cents apiece toward travel booked through Chase, which would make the 100,000-point bonus worth $1,250.

Other Ink Business Preferred card benefits

In addition to a great welcome bonus, the Ink Business Preferred card boasts some very solid benefits.

You can earn 3x points on the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases each account anniversary year in the following categories:

  • Travel
  • Shipping
  • Internet, cable, and phone services
  • Advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines

You'll earn 1 point per dollar on everything else.

The Ink Business Preferred also offers some valuable travel protections, including primary car rental insurance and trip cancellation/interruption insurance. It even offers cell phone protection against damage and theft when you pay your cell phone bill with the card.

Who is this offer for?

This new 100,000-point offer requires a much heavier lift in terms of spending. If you're an independent contractor or your business has minimal overhead expenses, spending an average $5,000 per month may not be reasonable. In that case, you're better off with another business credit card. On the cash-back side, there's the Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card with no annual fee. It's offering a sign-up bonus of $500 in cash back after you spend $3,000 in the first three months.

If you prefer to earn flexible travel rewards, you could consider the Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business, which is offering new cardholders 50,000 miles after they spend $4,500 in the first three months. The card has a $95 annual fee that's waived the first year, and you can redeem miles to wipe travel purchases from your statement, or transfer them to Capital One's airline and hotel travel partners to book flights or hotel stays.

On the other hand, if your business can easily meet the minimum spending requirement to earn 100,000 Chase points, the Ink Business Preferred card is an even more attractive option than it was before - and that's saying a lot.
